There are 60 million tribal people in India speaking hundreds of different
languages which are not yet written. Dr. Ananthi Jebasingh developed a simple
alphabet named Barati which can be used effectively to write down the Indian
languages.
Tribal communities live in small villages far removed from the town. |

They do not
have the concept of education and their children have to trek several miles to
go to school. |
| This prompted The Good Samaritans to open small centers
where basic education is introduced in mother tongue. |
 |
| Once children understand what they learn, they
are ready to go to higher classes, where education is in the state language or
English. The Good Samaritans plans to open more schools in villages where there
are no schools. |
