Other Schools

Dakshinpuri School

This programme was started in a church under a tree where 40 children sat and
began their new journey towards light. In 1992 the Community Development
Center building was given to The Good Samaritans by the slum wing of the
Municipal Corporation of Delhi to teach the slum children. |
| Morning and noon shifts were started. The school has
classes upto class IV and has around 300 children and 13 teachers. |
 |
| During assembly, the students are taught
ethics and faith and citizenship responsibilities. The regular expenses of the
center is met with the help Intermission Switzerland and as the numbers grew
Tear fund Schweiz. |
Shanti Vihar School

Shanti Vihar had been a very poor locality with very poor people. When the
slum was reconstructed, with the initiative of ASHA, people requested The Good
Samaritans to open a center to teach their children. The first school
started under a used cloth tent with one teacher and 25 children in 1992.
With the help Evangelical Alliance, Switzerland, rooms were constructed.
At present education is given to 70 students with 3 teachers. |
| For continued education they are shifted to other schools.
Due to the intervention of The Good Samaritans all the children in Shanti Vihar now go to school.
|
 |
The expenses are met with the help of Intermission Switzerland and other
donations. Tear Fund Schweiz helped the 2-room school construction. |
Bindapur School

This was started in 1994 – to help the children of the relocation colony
who were wandering aimlessly in the streets. The Good Samaritans rented
rooms, appointed teachers to give them direction and purpose in life. It
was a great success. Now many small schools have come up in the area. |
| Hence it shifted the centre to Issapur where there were not enough schools and where we are going to
establish a proper school for the kids. |
 |
Kazipur School

In June 2003, a day care center was opened in Kazipur, across the road to
Issapur where there were not enough schools. Children speak Hariyanavi
language. After initial struggles the teachers have overcome the language
problem. |
 |
Their patient approach is well rewarded. This center is
supported by Intermission Switzerland and other well wishers |
Madanpur Khaddar

In June 2003, The Good Samaritan Staff went to Madanpur Khaddar to see the
condition of the children. Children and parents ran to them, there was no
school to go, there was no drinking water and there was no electricity. Most
of all they missed the good teaching, the spiritual input, the love and care,
they received in Alaknanda. |
| The children looked as if they had gone back to square one
with dishelmed hair, clothes and a lost look. |
 |
| It tugged at their hearts and they decided to
go where the children are and continue the educational input. Small rooms were
rented to conduct classes. The condition of the people gave ample opportunity
to teach and mobilize towards better living. |
